Origanum Vulgare is an aromatic plant native to Europe and western Asia. The flowers are generated from funnel-shaped tubulars and are usually gathered in small bunches, forming some ears. The height of the plant varies according to the species. It is a herb with numerous properties: in medicine for internal use, indicated in case of colds, flu, light febrile conditions, difficult digestion, aerophagia, stomach ache and painful menstruation. For external use against bronchitis, asthma, arthritis and muscle pain, as a gargle against inflammation of the oral cavity and gums, also indicated against lice. Also used in the kitchen: pizza, fish, potatoes, cheese, meat, tomato, vegetables in oil and vinegar, liqueurs, are just some of the dishes that can be flavored with Oregano. Fresh or dried, in the kitchen it is used to flavor tomatoes, eggs, meats, cheeses, pizzas. In medicine, its hot infusion calms the cough, headaches or seasickness. An infusion of oregano added to the bath water has relaxing power.

Cultivation and Care of the Origanum Vulgare Plant:

Regarding the climate, it favors sunny and mild positions, which favor the plant a greater aroma. The plant adapts to all types of soil, even if it prefers dry, permeable and calcareous soils. Watering must be greater when the plant is young and during flowering. In the other vegetative periods it should not be wet because the Oregano does not tolerate the stagnation of water, which causes the maceration of the roots. The plant of the Oregano is a rustic plant, which does not require any special fertilization. During the spring it is fertilized with Phosphorus, Potassium and Nitrogen to stimulate its vegetative growth
