Generalities:

The Psidium tree, also called the guajava tree, is a fruit tree native to Central America. In nature, the guava produces large trees, which over the years can reach up to 7-10 m in height. These evergreen trees, with large, leathery, dark green leaves; in late spring they produce large, white, feathery flowers. The flowers are followed by rounded fruits, similar in size to those of a lemon or orange; the fruits have a slightly acidic flavor. With the guava fruits juices and jams are produced, which are easily prepared thanks to the high pectin content of the fruits.

The Psidium or Guava plant is a fruit tree that has a typically American origin.Considered in nature, this fruit tree has rather large dimensions which, over the years, can reach a maximum of 7-10 meters in height. In the Italian territory, compact cultivars are grown in most cases and, despite everything, all those guava trees that do not go beyond 3-4 meters in height are chosen.These trees, despite being exotic, are part of the family of the myrtaceae, particularly widespread in Italy: they are evergreen trees, with large leathery leaves, with a dark green color. During the spring season, these trees have the characteristic of producing large flowers with a candid coloring. To allow the development of new suckers and a rapid recovery of the entire tree. The fruits of the guava tree have a rather sour taste and can be more or less sweet depending on the species or variety that is being considered.
