copy of Lonicera Caprifolium Plant
Generalities Lonicera Caprifolium plant:
The best known climbing plant Lonicera is the Honeysuckle, Lonicera Caprifolium, originally from Europe. These are vigorous vines, with fickle stems that cling to whatever support they find, or they develop streaks with deciduous leaves, with fragrant cream-white flowers. The salient feature of these creepers is certainly the vigor and the long fragrant flowering, which lasts all summer. Flowering follows the production of berries which, in some species, have diuretic properties. They are plants that can be grown in open ground or in pots.

Generalities Lonicera Caprifolium plant:
Originally from Italy and also called "Madreselva", this deciduous species, which represents the common honeysuckle, has climbing habit, good strength and vigor (grows up to 7 m in height). Its leaves, ovate or obovate, non-persistent, have the characteristic of being petiolate or perfoliate (the sheath of the leaf wraps the branch in the absence of a petiole) depending on whether they are, respectively, at the bottom of the top of the plant . The intensely fragrant, cream-yellow flowers with pink shades, 3-5 cm long, appear from May onwards, gathered in bunches of about 6 specimens, in the center of the apical leaves. According to popular tradition, putting lonicera flowers in a girl's room would favor their dreams of love, while girls who aspire to marriage should never forget to keep a bouquet in the house.
Leaving aside the berries, the toxicity of which has already been mentioned, the lonicera flowers and leaves are widely used in herbal medicine. Flowers: once collected (May-June) and dried in the dark and in a protected environment, they must be stored in glass containers protected from light. They are used as remedies for respiratory system disorders; in fact, they exert an emollient and expectorant action, improve breathing in the presence of asthma and reduce inflammatory symptoms related to flu states. The leaves are collected from May to July, left to dry in the shade, turning them often, and are kept in paper bags. With them a decoction is prepared, useful in the presence of inflammations or ulcerations of the mucous membranes of the mouth and throat.
Cultivation and Care Plant Lonicera Caprifolium:
Madreselva honeysuckle is a rustic plant that grows easily in temperate climates. It prefers a humus-rich soil and a sunny position, but it also develops well in the shade - in any case, it will be good to keep the foot of the plant shaded. As soon as planted, it requires regular watering; once the shrub has taken root well, the water supply of rainy origin will suffice. In early spring, it will be appropriate to spread slow release fertilizer on the soil surrounding the base. It is a vigorous shrub that produces a few meters of vegetation every year; consequently, annual pruning is necessary to limit the size of the plant. It bears the cold well enough - it can survive even at minimum temperatures down to -15 ° C without experiencing particular growth problems.
