Generality of the Clusia rosea Princess plant:
Clusia rosea (or Clusia major) is an evergreen plant belonging to the Clusiaceae family. It is a slow growing plant and is grown primarily for the beauty of its leaves and flowers. It looks like a shrub or tree, with a round shape that can reach 15 meters.
It has oval and glossy leaves, thick, leathery and dark green in color. The cup-shaped and white flowers are approximately 5 cm wide. They are similar to Camellias and bloom in spring, releasing a very delicate scent. The fruits are globular, greenish and contain a sticky resin. The plant is native to tropical America and, due to its habitat, prefers warm temperatures. Here it is possible to grow it in pots as an indoor plant for ornamental purposes.
Clusia rosea should not be confused with Clusia lanceolata (which takes its name from the shape of its leaves). Yet another variety is the variegated Clusia, with leaves with lighter streaks.
Cultivation and Care of the Clusia rosea Princess plant:
A well-drained and fertile soil is needed; better if well melted. Repot in the spring every two or three years, taking care to replace the container with a larger one. Expose the plant to light or semi-shade. Warning! Clusia is particularly sensitive to cold, even the most moderate, for this reason do not expose below 18 ° C.
