Generality of the Strawberry Plant:

The strawberry is a plant that belongs to the category of perennials and it's characterized by having particularly small dimensions: in fact, this plant can reach a maximum height of 15-20 cm. The leaves of the strawberry are characterized by a typically oval shape and an intense green color, which becomes lighter as you go down the lower part of the page. Precisely in the period between spring and summer, the strawberry plant produces its characteristic fruits, with small and dotted with seeds: the wild strawberries can be eaten easily and are often used for the production of liqueurs and jams, but obviously there is a frequent use also in herbal medicine.

Cultivation and Care of the Strawberry Plant:

Strawberry plants require regular watering, to be intensified during particularly hot and dry periods. The ideal would be to water in the early morning to allow constant evaporation of excess water and the maintenance of the substrate at the right level of humidity. It is important that the water is given at the base of the plant and not on the leaves nor on the fruits that, if wet, they would be more prone to disease and rot. You will need to cover the ground under the plants with leaves, straw mattress and other materials to prevent the growth of weeds and keep the soil moist. Also you may need to use a protective net to protect your crop from birds.
