Tobacco fishing is also called saturnina or saturnia. It has a flat and flattened shape, white flesh and is much sweeter than the classic spherical peaches. In Italy, the cultivation of snuff peach is widespread especially in Sicily and the Marche. Medium-small in size, with a flattened shape like a snuff and with an intense but sweet flavor, it has a soft and very fragrant pulp. Ice creams and slushes are also obtained, and it has great versatility in the kitchen, where it successfully adapts to both fish and meat dishes.

Generalities:
The "snuffbox fishing" or "saturnina" is a rare variety of peaches, whose production is typical of the slopes of Etna, originating in particular from the Simeto and Alcantara Valleys. The name is due to the shape, squeezed on both sides, which resembles that of a snuffbox or the well-known planet of the solar system. There are many peculiarities and qualities of this fruit, unfortunately of limited diffusion. It is a medium-small peach, has a very sweet and soft white flesh. The characteristic traits are the very small kernel - more than that of an apricot - and the intense aroma typical of freshly picked fruits and not subjected to treatments. We recommend consuming it fresh to enjoy it at its best. It is also used by the confectionery industry to make excellent slushes and ice cream.
Cultivation and Care :
It is important that irrigation is therefore very abundant especially during the hottest summer months and it is also possible to enrich its nourishment with the administration of mineral salts through specially made fertilizers to be administered both at the end of winter and in the period immediately preceding its vegetative restart.
