The Ascolana Tenera Olive is a very popular variety for its particularly large olives (8-10 grams), light green when harvested and rich in very tender and very tasty pulp.
It is pollinated by the Pendolino varieties, and by other olive varieties such as Leccino or Moraiolo.

Generalities:
The Ascolana Tenera Olive is a cultivar originating from the province of Ascoli Piceno, occasionally cultivated throughout the Marche. Medium vigorous plant with upright posture, very dense foliage. Elliptical, regular and intense green leaves of medium size. Fruit of exceptional size (8-10 g), ellipsoidal shape, slightly asymmetrical with rounded or slightly conical apex, intended for the table. High resistance to cold, cycloconio (or peacock's eye) and mange. Sensitive to the fly.
Self-sterile cultivar, good pollinators are Itrana, Giarraffa, Rosciola, Pendolino and Santa Caterina. Early ripening. High and constant productivity. The yield at the mill is fair (16-18%). The pulp is tender and has a milky white color, representing about 86-87% of the fruit.
Cultivation and Care:
The Coratina Olive Tree, more than the minimum winter temperatures, however, fears sudden changes in temperature that can cause cracks in the trunks and branches. Some parts of the plant are particularly sensitive to the action of frost: the leaves, the buds and the bark. The latter is torn not only in the twigs, but also in the larger branches and in the trunk. The olive tree is a plant that prefers arid environments while it fears excessive humidity, except in spring, in correspondence with the maximum vegetative activity. Calcareous and dry soils are ideal, but good productions can also be obtained in clayey soils, if well drained, and in sandy ones, as long as they are sufficiently irrigated.
