Generality of the Incense Plant:
Incense is a perennial and evergreen herbaceous plant of tropical origin that belongs to the Labiate family. The hanging plant of dense bush is formed by numerous flexible stalks covered by fragrant green leaves variegated with white at the toothed margins. The stems and leaves are covered with a thin and light down. It is a plant with a very decorative and luxuriant hanging habit, which in recent times is appreciated not only for its beauty, but also for its perfume, also because, thanks to its intense scent, it takes away annoying insects for humans, even detestable mosquitoes. It can be grown either as an outdoor plant, in mild climates or in warm and warm seasons, or as a whole plant, being an evergreen. It is a very easy plant to grow and rather luxuriant and rapid in growth, therefore very suitable for decorating terraces and balconies. If growth were to be excessive, simple pruning of the vegetative apices would be sufficient to contain this marvelous plant, and to give it a harmonious habit.
Cultivation and Care of the Incense Plant:
Incense plants love strong light, but they are gradually accustomed to full sun, especially in very hot climates, where they prefer partial shade. If grown indoors, it is preferable to place them near a window and in the brightest area. They bear well the high temperatures, while it is preferable never to expose them in the cold below 5-10 ° C, so you have to bring it home when it's cold so that it will continue to vegetate decorating and perfuming the house. It requires frequent irrigation, but you have to control that the soil is well drained because it doesn't like water stagnation. Especially in spring-summer, never allow the soil to dry completely.
