copy of Photinia plant
Generality of the Photinia plant:
The Photina plant is a round shrub with thin stems; the leaves are oval or lanceolate, bright red when they sprout, then become dark green; even during autumn and winter some leaves may take on an orange color. In early spring it produces numerous fragrant white flowers. In summer, some small reddish berries can be seen on the plants. Plant the Photina Red Robin plant in a sunny or semi-shady place; the photinies do not fear the cold, nor the sultry heat of July and August. Fear of water stagnation, it is therefore good to grow photinie in very well drained soil.

Generality of the Photinia plant :
The Photinia plant is a shrub or a small evergreen tree of Asian origin. There are now many hybrids of this plant on the market, hybrids that are able to resist parasites, diseases and other adversities of an environmental or climatic nature. Photinia also tolerates pollution well and absorbs fine and polluting dust emitted by factories or cars without damage. In this sense, the photinia hedge plays an important role in conservation and environmental protection. Due to this characteristic, the photinia hedge finds more and more space in urban environments and public contexts. The continued and repeated use of photinia from hedges is perhaps inflating the fame of this beautiful plant, but this does not exclude that it can also be used to create a normal garden hedge. In fact, photinia is used to create mixed, rustic, informal and decorative hedges. The plant is able to reach a height of three or four meters. Morphologically it has lanceolate oval leaves, not too abundant, which in spring, in the bud phase, turn red, and then become dark green. The phenomenon occurs in March, while in May, at the very end of spring, the plant produces small white flowers gathered in thin twigs.
Photinia Plant Cultivation and Care :
Photinia does not require special care: the plant, in fact, has no particular cultural needs and adapts well to any climatic condition. In winter, if the season is too cold, it is advisable to mulch at the base of the hedge. The technique consists in covering the area around the roots with dry leaves, soil or bark. In this way, frost or snow will not damage the root system and will not cause it to rot. However, photinia resists well even at low and high temperatures. The photinia should be watered every ten days when it is young, while when it is adult it can be watered even only through rain. In the event of an arid and dry summer season, it is always advisable to distribute a little water even to the adult plant. Photinia also resists parasites and diseases well. To prevent them, just give a broad spectrum insecticide at the end of winter. The photinia should be pruned in late spring, after flowering, eliminating the flowers and withered branches and cutting the branches that are too long.
