copy of Plant Eugenia Newport
Generalities of the Eugenia Newport plant:
Eugenia Newport is an evergreen plant with a pyramidal habit and intense green, glossy and decidedly very elegant foliage. The new shoots are reddish and white flowers, similar to fluff, which then leave room for red-purple berries in late summer. It is a very compact plant, ideal for forming dense hedges and also cultivable in pots. A rooted face, the plant tolerates drought and light frosts. For best results, it can be pruned in early spring to contain growth and shape it as you prefer. The eugenia plant is rustic and can resist low temperatures well

Generalities of the Eugenia Newport plant:
The Eugenia Newport plant is native to Australia and is characterized by a thick, well-branched and rounded crown. It belongs to the same family as the myrtle but does not grow spontaneously on Italian soil. It has leathery leaves with an oval shape of intense green color but in autumn they take on a shade of red. Almost at the end of spring, it opens its flowers placed at the top of the branches. They are small but collected in voluminous panicles, have an intense purple color made more delicate by the presence of the white stamens. The fruits appear a few months later and, when fully ripe, they can be used to make jams with a slightly acidic flavor or sauces to be served on the table together with red meats. All varieties of eugenia have the ability to adapt to different types of soil, from the driest to those rich in nutrition. If you want to obtain large and always luxuriant plants, place them on the ground in a well-lit area but away from direct sunlight. Before the vegetative restart, spread a good quantity of organic fertilizer on the soil adjacent to the stem of the plant or, alternatively, a chemical fertilizer that contains high percentages of potassium and nitrogen. These two chemical elements are the ones that guarantee the shrub a constant development and a beautiful flowering. During the winter, shorten the main branches: it is the best way to stimulate the production of new shoots in spring.
Eugenia Newport Plant Care and Cultivation:
The eugenia plant is rustic and can resist low temperatures well. Even if the mercury falls below -5 ° C, the shrub does not show any visible signs of suffering. However, it is advisable to protect it from cold winds by moving the pots to a sheltered area or, in the event that the Eugenia has been planted on the ground, it is a good habit to protect it by wrapping it entirely with non-woven fabric. It prefers to be placed in bright areas and grows best where the soil is fertile, drained and light. Provide all the nourishment it needs with fertilizations carried out in autumn and spring. Manure is excellent but replace it every so often with slow release chemical fertilizer.
